Vincent meets him in January 1887. He paints with him in Asnières during the Spring 1887.
Signac encourages him to use a palette with lighter and brighter colours, and teaches him the scientific theory of colours (complementary, deep shades…)
On March 24th, as Vincent is still committed, Signac visits him: “ that was really a relief to me…I seldom or never had such a conversation with an Impressionnist, without arguing or disagreeing on both sides”.
