Vincent Van Gogh and Father Tanguy

Vincent felt affection and friendship for father Tanguy, an old anarchist who ran a small shop where he sold colours and exhibited the artists he admired.
Father Tanguy accepted the first Cézanne and every Impressionnist went to his shop. It was there that Vincent met Bernard, Pissaro, art critics and numerous artists. He would exhibit his paintings in the small window and on the picture rails. .
“ If I manage to live long enough, I will be someone like father Tanguy”.
